Each platform has its strong points and your choice between multimedia CD-ROM or DVD-ROM, interactive video DVD and web based e-Learning delivered online on your intranet will depend on the nature of the topic, any existing interactive disk based or online e-learning and how far it is SCORM compliant, what equipment your learners have access to and what your IT department will let you do. The bandwidth available on your intranet may determine whether your online e-learning can include video. Some learners may have a PC without speakers, which may mean producing e-learning that offers both audiovisual and text only versions. (See Working with your IT department for more on this.)

Learning Management, in other words controlling access to the e-learning package and recording completion, pass, fail, etc. can be achieved inexpensively through links to a simple database or through an open source (ie free) tool such as Moodle. Alternatively you can use a proprietary Learning Management System (or LMS), which will offer a range of recording, reporting and analytical functions. Many Learning Management Systems are tied to an authoring tool and also require royalty or maintenance payments - usually so much per "seat" or user per year. It is often important to find out what version of SCORM (Shareable Content Object Reference Model) the LMS uses and whether it includes various optional elements. This may influence the degree of interactivity you can offer your learners. For independent advice on Learning Management Systems we suggest our colleagues at Feenix e-Learning or Interaktiv. (Note that the website scorm.com takes you to a software company, not to the official SCORM people who are at www.adlnet.org ).
At Enlightenment Interactive we do NOT charge maintenance or "per seat" fees. Once you have paid for the e-learning you have commissioned from us, it's yours. There will be a charge for hosting if you need this, but most clients put the e-learning on their own servers. If the disc or web based learning package needs updating in the future, we'll quote a fair price that reflects the amount of work involved.

We will expect you you to attend any video shoot to make sure you are completely happy with the shots.
We will also let you see and approve a rough-cut before we create the final version.
We can provide sample disks for multimedia CD-ROM and interactive DVD courses and an online test site for e-learning courses, so that you can have some of your learners try out the material.
Time and budget are allowed for making adjustments to the training course.
You will save time: learning with interactive multimedia, whether CD-ROM, DVD-i or e-Learning is very intensive. A CD-ROM we made for a major building society as pre-course work for CEMAP training saved 1 to 2 days of trainer-led course time, yet only took the course participants half a day to complete at their normal workplaces.
Will it be as effective? We produce interactive learning material that is engaging, memorable and flexible. There is usually still a need for the human element, so we recommend you take a blended learning approach, combining interactive modules with trainer-led sessions or providing real time interaction with trainers, for example through virtual classroom or interactive television technology.
